Re open plan for new tuition years for SCA.

The Ready School’s Safe Learners’ initial guidance for the 2020-2021 school year provides schools the flexibility to develop a local plan to safe start our educational studies according to the guidelines given by Oregon Governor Kate Brown. The guide is designed to adjust to the updates and standards set by government officials, community and contributions by the school administration and teachers.

We have been carefully planning and preparing to reopen our school this fall. The health and safety of our campus and community has been and continues to be our top priority. We want to share with you the operational plan that Slavic Christian Academy has developed for the 2020-21 academic school year and the methods we will utilize to continue to adjust the plan as needed.

This plan may change over the course of the year based on information from the public health department and our private school district. The plan will adjust depending on new instructions given by the labor and safety guidelines in accordance with COVID-19 changes. We will also adjust accordingly based on feedback from our teachers, parents, and our community.

We recognize that the consequences of COVID-19 will affect the new school year. We are also aware that there may be a possibility of additional outbreaks, therefore we have developed a contingency plan with emergency instructions. This plan includes, if necessary, a return to fully distance learning, amended school year calendars, as well as further cleaning and sanitary procedures. Our main motivation remains the health of our students and their families.

Last March, due to the COVID-19 outbreak, our school was required to transition to remote learning practices utilizing online courses from Abeka and various platforms such as Zoom. Unfortunately, this method of teaching was not beneficial for all our students. After much thought, we decided to reopen our school for in-person education implementing important safety measures:

Physical distancing of at least six feet between students, teachers, staff and parents is a primary component. Physical distancing policies and practices will be in place across

campus. Classrooms, dining areas and gathering spaces will be configured to implement

capacity limits and enforce distancing.

  • Hand hygiene remains a primary method to prevent the spread of illness. We will make

hand sanitizer widely available throughout the building.

  • Reorganize the classroom set up to create social distance between students and

  • Parents will be required to wear face coverings when entering the building or office and

must maintain physical distance of six feet from others.

  • General meetings, concerts, and celebrations will only be carried out with social

distance measure based on the situation at hand.

  • Enhanced cleaning and disinfection protocols will be utilized especially around high

    touch surfaces and common spaces.

  • Give parents the opportunity to transition to online education upon their request.

We understand and respect the importance of each voice, including the families, staff  and the supervisory authorities of the Department of Education. We hope that our plan will reflect the strengths and needs of each student and our entire community. The plan will be posted on the bulletin board, on our website, and distributed to all parents of the students.

Together, we will act carefully checking every step along the way as we move forward to protect the health and safety of our students, families and the educational community.

    With respect,
    SCA Administration
